Data available in the East Midlands SDE
When the East Midlands Secure Data Environment goes live in April 2025 , it will focus on the highest priority area for researchers – cancer data.
The Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy Data Set (SACT) has been developed by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) and includes data for therapies including chemotherapy , drugs and regimens.
NUH has been working on the development of data for research to meet the needs of local communities by successfully bringing together clinical knowledge with technical and data expertise from across the East Midlands SDE programme.
Programme Director, Andrew Haw, says enabling access to data which is high on the list of researchers and industry stakeholders has been a priority for the team: “We know from the national and local engagement with stakeholders, including the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, that data around the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in the NHS is a high priority.
“With the rate of cancer diagnosis increasing every month, research which improves treatment is an important part of transforming NHS cancer care, by providing new evidence and knowledge.”
