For Researchers

The East Midlands Secure Data Environment (SDE) will provide you with a new data platform for your research and analysis.

Our SDE offers a single point of access for a range of data by joining up data resources from across the East Midlands.

SDEs are being designed to provide comprehensive data from millions of health and care records which reflect the diverse communities in our region. By combining safe, secure access with analytical capabilities, SDEs will help power your scientific discoveries.

The East Midlands SDE is being developed now and will be operational in 2025.

The SDE will increasingly establish data pipelines in collaboration with health and care providers from across the region.

Current projects

This development is informed by early adopter projects and case studies, which are already demonstrating how the capabilities provided by the SDE are benefitting new research.

Working with researchers

We want to hear the views, ideas and suggestions from researchers in the East Midlands, so that we can be sure that our SDE meets your needs and provides new opportunities for research studies.

Working with local people

In the East Midlands, we represent a diverse range of communities with varying health needs, some of them severe. We work closely with patients and the public to listen to their views and ensure the way research data is used on our platform reflects the requirements of the five million people who live in our region.
